NAME: AKSHAYA PADMAKRISHNAN AGE:12 Introduction: “Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed." - Gandhi Our natural environment and surroundings provide us with everything that we ever need. We get air, water, food, and everything else from the environment. But what are we giving back to the environment? We are just depleting it slowly which ultimately only harms us. The environment gives us countless benefits that we cannot repay our entire life. Let us see briefly in the following essay Environment: The environment is an ultimate important treasure that we own. The term environment is derived from the French word "environ", that stands for everything that surrounds us or the surrounding conditions for all living things and also the realm we sleep in. Broken bottles and charred pieces of glass, waded up newspapers tossed on the grass, pouring of concrete and tearing out trees—this is the environment that surrounds us. Heating is also a significant environmental issue. A high level of environmental pollution is detrimental to human and animal health. Forests are fastly depleting which causes erosion and drought situations. Excessive use of pesticides and contamination of soil have negatively affected soil output. Therefore, it is time to affix hands and save our surroundings for an improved future. Save the Environment: Saving the Environment is now required for survival. Damage to the environment stems from consumption. Consume less: Curbing consumption can have an outsized impact on the environment. The three "Rs" Reduce, Reuse and Recycle -get plenty of attention, but the planet may appreciate a more important yet underrepresented 'R': Refuse. Refusing to allow unneeded items into your life can prevent money and reduce the number of clutter in your home. Compost: Another 'R' that doesn't get much attention but has important environmental implications is “rot.” As in, let your food and yard waste rot naturally within the soil instead of sending it to the landfill. In other words: compost. Composting your food scraps and yard waste offers double the reward as it keeps and an improbable amount of trash out of the waste stream, and produces free, rich soil to use in your garden. Choose reusable over single-use: Eradicating plastic isn't one man's job… every hand counts. Single-use plastic must go somewhere and it's had a devastating effect on our soil, oceans, and marine life. Switch to reusable items and try to use them as often as possible. you'll have less trash piling up at your curb and you may be helping to shield the environment in a major way. Upcycle more - Get creative along with your useless or unwanted items by upcycling turning trash into treasure. Creating something new like artwork, toys or jewelry is both satisfying and one of the only ways to protect the environment. Recycle properly - If you can not refuse, rot, reduce, upcycle or reuse it; then it's time to point out to the final 'R' - recycling. Educate yourself on what is going to be and cannot be recycled in your line reception. Throwing inaccurate items within the recycle bin may lead to a whole load being rejected, which suggests... back to the landfill. Live and let live We, humans, tend towards being supercilious to other species. we must always respect the hierarchy of the natural phenomenon and try to eat what's edible for us. The planet belongs as much to animals as it does to us. Develop and implement sustainable food and practices especially from the oceans. Green gardening Avoid chemical pesticides and weed killers, rather select composting garden and kitchen waste. Use Energy efficiently use less energy at school, office and home. Turn off the lights, fans, and air conditioners when not in use. And invest in energy-efficient devices like CFL's, LED's etc. You will be helping not only the environment but yourself too. These small inputs from several people can end up having a huge impact on the environment. Save Water We should save water as it is a precious component of our surroundings It should be never be wasted. We must always never pollute water. Efforts should be made in making an enormous reduction in both domestic and industrial disposal in water bodies. PLANT more avoid Deforestation TREES "What we do to the forests of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we do to ourselves and every other.” Leader There should be a policy towards donating and saving the environment by planting just one tree monthly. We are ready to make donations to NGOs that are engaged in planting just trees, or in any way working towards saving the environment. Trees absorb pollution and protect water reservoirs. Trees produce life-giving oxygen and mitigate action. Trees provide habitat for wildlife Last but not least, aware more people about environmental issues and consequences. Encourage everyone to contribute their part to avoid wasting our surroundings. Expanding and streamlining recycling programs, passing regulations to greatly reduce carbon emissions, subsidizing clean energy production and development, greatly expanding transit, build up not reforming own. Loriety's materialistic ideal vision of success and moving off from a minimalist economic mode, which needs exploitation of natural resown to function are just a few! The environment will save us.
